However although her will was not proved until 1812 it is possible that she was the "Mrs Rachel Alchin" buried at West Malling on 25th September 1780. Rachel never married and she left her considerable estate to her niece Margaret Alchin. A transcript of her last Will and Testament dated 12 October 1779 is reproduced below:

"In the Name of God Amen the twelfth day of October in the nineteenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland, King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Nine. 1.1.3.7  ~~  Ann Alchin

Ann was baptised at St James' church, East Malling on 17th December 1723.

1.1.3.8  ~~  Henry Alchin

Henry was baptised at St James' church, East Malling on 26th September 1726. He married Margaret Whitting at East Malling on 20th April 1756. They were married by licence by the Rev'd William Perfect. The witnesses to their wedding were Armigil and Anthony Whitting (probably the bride's father and brother). At the time of his marriage Henry was a miller of East Malling. Margaret was born in about 1729, the daughter of Anthony Whitting.

Henry and Margaret had at least six children – Margaret (1757), Ann (1758), Henry (1760), Rachel (1762), John (1769) and Susannah (1774). The will of his elder sister Rachel dated 1779 records that Henry was still a miller of East Malling and he was probably the owner of the paper mill at East Malling. Henry also owned a mill at Meopham and this provides a link between the Alchins of East Malling and Meopham.

Henry appears to have been quite a wealthy man with property spread over a wide area. As such he would have been expected to play a prominent role in the local community. In 1785 Henry (or possibly his son) replaced Thomas Beach as the Constable of East Malling. At the time Henry was a miller.

The West Malling parish records include a settlement certificate signed by Henry Alchin and Armigil Whitting on 1st November 1759 which allowed John Godden to move from East Malling to West Malling. At some time between 1804 and 1811 Henry sold a meadow (part of Well Meadow comprising 1 acre 17 perch) on which was constructed the new Maidstone Gaol.

The women from the more wealthy branches of the Alchins established a tradtion of spinsterhood. Most of Henry's daughters and great grand-daughters never married. He had no granddaughters. Margaret Alchin died aged about 75 years and she was buried at East Malling on 19th October 1804. Henry died aged 87 years and he was buried at East Malling on 28th January 1814. He left a will dated 1800 which is reproduced below:
