Prior to her marriage Lucy had a son Allan (1884). Lucy married Frederick French at Woollahra on 24th September 1885 (NSW 1885/3222). Frederick and Lucy had at least eight children Frederick (1886), Emma (1889), Sarah (1891), Eva (1893), Lucy (1895), Oswald (1897), Agnes (1900) and Lily (1901). Lucy died at Canterbury on 19th March 1938 (NSW 1938/01731) aged 77 years. 1.4.4.6.10.1 ~~ Allan (Alchin) French Allan was born at Gunning on 24th May 1884 (NSW 1884/33550) before his mother's marriage. He died at Gunnedah on 27th July 1897 (NSW 1897/8373) aged 13 years. He is buried in the Dalton Methodist cemetery. 1.4.4.6.10.2 ~~ Frederick Henry French Frederick was born at Balmain in 1886. Frederick married twice. He firstly married Elizabeth J. Brennen in 1908; she was born at Murrumburrah in 1892. Frederick and Elizabeth had at least three children Eva (1909), Elizabeth (1912) and Frederick (1915). Frederick subsequently married Hilda M. Godden at Canterbury in 1924 (NSW 1924/10275); she was born at Rylstone in 1881. Frederick and Hilda had at least one child Beryl. Frederick died at Marrickville in 1930 aged only 44 years (NSW 1930/18601). 1.4.4.6.10.2.1 ~~ Eva M. French Eva was born at St Peters in 1909. She married Hugh J. Miller in 1927 (NSW 1927/08223); he was born at Waterloo in 1906. 1.4.4.6.10.2.2 ~~ Elizabeth French Elizabeth was born at St Peters in 1912. 1.4.4.6.10.2.3 ~~ Frederick Franch Frederick was born at Newtown in 1915. 1.4.4.6.10.3 ~~ Emma Plumb French Emma was born at Marrickville in 1889 (NSW 1889/7440). She married Horrie Smith at Newtown in 1914 (NSW 1914/05370). Horrie and Emma had at least one child Gwendoline (1914). Horrie died at Newtown in 1920. Emma then married Frederick William Lewis in 1922; he was born at Woollahra in 1884. Frederick and Emma had at least two children Mavis and William. Frederick died at Parramatta in 1938 aged 54 years. 1.4.4.6.10.3.1 ~~ Gwendoline Smith Gwendoline was born at Newtown in 1914. 1.4.4.6.10.4 ~~ Sarah Jessica French Sarah was born at Petersham in 1891 (NSW 1891/06122). She married Thomas P. Hennessey in 1916; he was born at Cowra in 1890. 1.4.4.6.10.5 ~~ Eva Maiwin French Eva was born at Marrickville in 1893 (NSW 1893/22184). She married Albert Henry Penboss in 1917; he was born at St Peters in 1895. Albert died in 1919 aged only 24 years. Eva subsequently married William George Wensley in 1937. 1.4.4.6.10.6 ~~ Lucy Ellen French Lucy was born at Marrickville in 1895 (NSW 1895/24071). She married George A. Helwen at St Peters in 1913 (NSW 1913/5397); he was born at Braidwood in 1888. George died at Marrickville in 1924 aged only 36 years. Lucy died in 1925 aged only 30 years. 1.4.4.6.10.7 ~~ Oswald Francis French Oswald was born at Marrickville in 1897 (NSW 1897/23337). He married Marcella Ilean Dixon at St Peters on 7th May 1921 (NSW 1921/8492); she was born at Corowa in 1898. Oswald and Marcella had at least three children Allan, Lillian and Marcella. Oswald died at Rockdale in 1965 aged 68 years. 1.4.4.6.10.8 ~~ Agnes Clarice French Agnes was born at St Peters in 1900 (NSW 1900/7257). She married George Albert Woodcock at St Peters in 1930 (NSW 1930/00909); he was born at Newtown in 1893. George and Agnes had at least two children Shirley and Keith. George died at Marrickville in 1958 aged 65 years. 1.4.4.6.10.9 ~~ Lily French Lily was born at St Peters in 1901 (NSW 1901/35922). She married William Barnes at St Peters in 1928 (NSW 1928/12484). 1.4.4.6.11 ~~ Mary A. Alchin Mary was born at Yass on 10th January 1862 (NSW 1862/15235). She died at Yass at the age of 2 years in 1864 (NSW 1864/6418). 1.4.4.6.12 ~~ Emma Plumb Alchin Emma was born at Dalton on 28th October 1863 (NSW 1863/15388). She died at Yass Hospital on 12th September 1875 (NSW 1875/10638) aged almost 12 years. Emma had been ill for nearly 3 weeks with a fever (probably typhoid) and she was last seen by Dr Blake on the day of her death. Emma was buried in Yass Presbyterian cemetery without a religious ceremony on 13th September 1875. 1.4.4.6.13 ~~ Edward Alchin Edward (Ned) was born at Oolong Creek near Dalton on 24th August 1865 (NSW 1865/17261). He was the second of Ambrose's sons to be given this name. The first Edward had died at Forbes in 1862 at the age of 36 years. Ned married Sophia Jane Smith at Dalton on 21st August 1888 (NSW 1888/7765); she was born at Jerrawa Creek on 29th July 1870. Ned and Sophia had seven children Emma (1889), Cecil (1891), Herbert (1893), Horace (1896), Leslie (1901), Ambrosina (1906) and Edna (1910). In 1889 Ned was a farmer of Dalton. Ned died at Crookwell on 2nd June 1940 aged 74 years (NSW 1940/11691). Sophia died at Crookwell on 4th January 1960 aged 89 years (NSW 1960/8070).
1.4.4.6.13.1 ~~ Emma Plumb Alchin Emma was born at Dalton on 10th August 1889 (NSW 1889/36565) and the witness to her birth was Sophia Smith (probably her grandmother). Emma married John Adolph Afred Wray at Crookwell on 21st December 1910 (NSW 1910/11939); he was born at Crookwell on 30th August 1885 the son of Thomas Wray and Lavinia Annie Freudenstein. John and Emma had at least ten children Freda (1911), twins Dellia and Phyllis (1913), Samuel (1915), Constance (1919), Zetta (1922), Stanley (1924),Joseph, Pamela and Gordon. John died at Crookwell on 16th August 1951 aged almost 66 years. Emma died at Crookwell on 10th August 1955 aged 66 years. 1.4.4.6.13.1.1 ~~ Freda Gertrude Wray Freda was born at Crookwell on 7th May 1911 (NSW 1911/15163). Freda died at Crookwell on 17th May 1912 (NSW 1912/5554) just after her first birthday. 1.4.4.6.13.1.2 ~~ Dellia Clare Wray Dellia and her twin sister Phyllis were born at Crookwell on 13th January 1913 (NSW 1913/3754). She married James Leslie Apps at Crookwell on 18th May 1938 (NSW 1938/9093); he was born at Crookwell in 1913. James and delia had at least four children John, Geoffrey, Kevin and Mervin. Leslie died at Queanbeyan on 1st June 1992 aged 89 years. Delia died at Queanbeyan on 20th April 2000 aged 87 years. 1.4.4.6.13.1.3 ~~ Phyllis Jean Wray Phyllis and her twin sister Dellia were born at Crookwell on 13th January 1913 (NSW 1913/3755). She married Harold Reginald Smith at Crookwell on 19th August 1936 (NSW 1936/14931).Phyllis died at Crookwell on 8th December 1997 aged 84 years. 1.4.4.6.13.1.4 ~~ Samuel Ernest Alfred Wray Samuel was born at Crookwell on 30th March 1915 (NSW 1915/19353). He married Inez Alma Bradney at Crookwell in 1939 (NSW 1939/2955); she was born in 1920. Samuel and Inez had five children. Inez died on 29th July 1999 aged 79 years. Samuel died on 23rd June 2000 aged 85 years. 1.4.4.6.13.1.5 ~~ Constance Gertrude Wray Constance was born at Crookwell on 19th May 1919. She married George Randel on 2nd August 1947. 1.4.4.6.13.1.6 ~~ Zetta Evelyn Wray Zetta was born at Crookwell on 14th October 1921. She married John Stanley Gray. Zetta died on 22nd January 1995. 1.4.4.6.13.1.7 ~~ Stanley Thomas John Wray Stanley was born at Crookwell on 22nd March 1924. He married Albertine Mabel Hindmarsh and they had three children. 1.4.4.6.13.2 ~~ Cecil Lawrence Alchin Cecil was born at Dalton on 24th May 1891 (NSW 1891/15919). He married Eva Florence Mabel Williamson at Sydney on 27th March 1912 (NSW 1912/4150). Eva was born at Crookwell on 27th July 1894 and she was the daughter of John Williamson and Mary Ann Hone. Cecil and Eva had six children Claude (1912), Garnet (1916), Colin (1918), Wilfred (1922), Eric and Bruce. Cecil died at Sydney on 15th March 1952 aged 60 years (NSW 1952/4560). He was cremated at Woronora in Sydney. Eva died at St Leonards on 31st July 1973 aged 79 years (NSW 1973/58192). 1.4.4.6.13.2.1 ~~ Claude Austin Alchin Claude was born at Crookwell on 21st May 1912 (NSW 1912/28238). He married Mabel Eleanour Selman at Hurstville on 28th March 1937 (NSW 1937/8526); she was born at St Peters on 14th January 1915. Claude and Mabel had at least three children Edward, Raymond and Kenneth. Claude died on 11th June 2004 aged 92 years. 1.4.4.6.13.2.2 ~~ Garnet Cecil Alchin Garnet was born at St Peters on 17th September 1916 (NSW 27162). He married Mary Louise Morrison at Sydney on 16th September 1939 (NSW 1939/13187); she was born at Katoomba on 8th June 1917. Garnet and Mary had at least two children Garnet and Lois. Mary died on 28th August 2005 aged 88 years. 1.4.4.6.13.2.3 ~~ Colin Arthur Alchin Colin was born at Waverley on 17th September 1918 (NSW 1918/37090). Colin died at Waverley on 24th February 1920 aged about 18 months (NSW 1920/4367). 1.4.4.6.13.2.4 ~~ Wilfred Lawrence Alchin Wilfred was born on 30th March 1922. He married Luana McIver in about 1944; she was born on 25th September 1925. Wilfred and Luana had at least three children Rhonda, Coral and Eric. 1.4.4.6.13.3 ~~ Herbert Russell Alchin Herbert was born at Dalton on 30th April 1893 (NSW 1893/16356) although his enlistment papers in 1917 claim that he was born at Inverell. After leaving school he was employed as a labourer. Herbert and his younger brother Horace enlisted in the 1st A.I.F. at Crookwell on 7th August 1917. He was assigned to the 17th Infantry Battalion with the rank of Private and regimental number 7158. His attestation sheet provides Herbert's physical description: Height 5' 10"; weight 171 lbs; fair complexion, grey eyes and brown hair. Herbert was a member of the Presbyterian faith. Prior to leaving Australia, he married Violet Philadelphia Maye at Crookwell on 20th October 1917. She was the daughter of George Thomas and Philadelphia Maye and she was born at Yarra, NSW on 10th June 1896. Herbert and the other members of the 21st reinforcements to the 17th Battalion embarked aboard the vessel A14 "Euripides" on 31st October 1917. After being hospitalised with the mumps during the voyage, Herbert disembarked at Devonport on 26th December 1917. After undergoing further training in England, Herbert went to France in early April 1918 and he joined his battalion on 16th April 1918. Herbert was wounded in action on 14th May 1918 when he suffered a gun shot wound to the left shoulder. Herbert was sent to the 2nd General Hospital to recover although the wound must not have been too serious as he re-joined his battalion on 19th July 1918. At the end of the war Herbert and his brother were detached to the War Graves Registration Unit for a couple of months in mid 1919. He departed England aboard the vessel "Devon" on 8th October 1919 and he disembarked at Sydney on 26th November 1919. Herbert was discharged from the Army on 28th December 1919. Herbert and Violet had at least two children Herbert and Thora. Herbert (senior) made a repatriation claim in December 1932. Herbert re-enlisted in the Australian Army during World War 2 and he served in the Volunteer Defence Corps (N394013). Herbert died at Crookwell on 12th April 1968 (NSW 1968/26421) shortly before his 75th birthday (Probate NSW 670525). Violet died at Crookwell on 23rd June 1974 (NSW 1974/52301) aged 78 years. 1.4.4.6.13.4 ~~ Horace Alchin Horace was born at Goulburn on 10th July 1896 (NSW 1896/21672), although his World War I enlistment papers claim that he was born at Crookwell. After leaving school he was employed as a labourer. Horace and his elder brother Herbert enlisted in the 1st A.I.F. at Crookwell on 7th August 1917. Horace re-enlisted in the Australian Army during World War 2 and he served in the Volunteer Defence Corps (N394011). Elsie died at Crookwell on 2nd October 1942 aged 44 years (NSW 1942/26043). Horace subsequently married Myra Jane Poll; she was born at Crookwell on 15th November 1905 and she was probably the younger sister or cousin of Horace's first wife. Horace and Myra had two children Valerie and Barbara. Horace died at Crookwell on 26th June 1954 (NSW 1954/14670) aged 57 years (Probate NSW 421920). Myra died at Crookwell on 15th October 1987 aged 81 years. 1.4.4.6.13.4.1 ~~ Elsie Joyce Alchin Elsie was born at Crookwell on 6th June 1921. She died at Crookwell on 29th December 1930 aged only 9 years (NSW 1931/3957). 1.4.4.6.13.4.2 ~~ Ethel Merle Alchin Ethel was born at Crookwell on 17th March 1923. She married James Francis Byrne at Goulburn on 10th February 1945 (NSW 1945/2533); he was born on 18th May 1926. James and Ethel had at least three children James, Robert and Mary. Ethel died at Wollongong on 19th January 1963 aged only 39 years. James died on 6th June 1973 aged only 47 years. 1.4.4.6.13.5 ~~ Leslie Alchin Leslie was born at Crookwell on 13th March 1901 (NSW 1901/2214). He married Mary Maud Glenn at Crookwell on 24th July 1922 (NSW 1922/11356); she was born at Grabben Gullen on 1st October 1899. Leslie and Mary had at least four children Betty, Cecil, Erica and June. The 1955 electoral roll for the seat of Eden-Monaro records that Leslie was employed as a carrier. He and his wife and their daughter Erica were living at 116 Coromandel Street, Goulburn. The 1963 electoral roll gives the same occupation and address. Leslie died at Kenmore near Goulburn on 22nd August 1981 aged 80 years (Probate NSW 933793). Mary died at Bateman's Bay on 8th May 1989 aged 89 years. 1.4.4.6.13.6 ~~ Ambrosina Alchin Ambrosina was born at Crookwell on 11th December 1906 (NSW 1907/2867). She married Frank Cook at Crookwell in 1926 (NSW 1926/18087); he was born at Liverpool in England on 14th May 1904. Frank and Ambrosina had at least eight children Lorna, Patricia, Frederick, Vera, Beverley, Kevin, Doreen and Freda. Frank died at Wyong on 29th October 1971 aged 67 years. Ambrosina died on 2nd July 2001 aged 94 years. 1.4.4.6.13.7 ~~ Edna May Alchin Edna was born at Crookwell on 12th December 1910 (NSW 1911/3428). She married Robert Henry Smith at Crookwell in 1930 (NSW 1930/4506); he was born at Crookwell on 27th December 1902. Robert and Edna had at least eight children Norman, Mervyn, Noel, Keith, Ronald, Maylene, Robert and Beatrice. Robert died at Crookwell on 20th September 1966 aged 64 years. Edna died at Crookwell on 7th August 1985 aged 74 years. 1.4.4.6.14 ~~ Jabez Alchin Jabez was born at Yass in 1867 NSW 1867/18306). The 1906 electoral roll for the seat of Werriwa records that Jabez was a farmer of Dalton. The 1932 electoral roll records that he was a farmer and grazier of Dalton. It appears that Jabez never married. Jabez died at Gunning on 22nd March 1940 (NSW 1940/1407) aged 72 years (Probate NSW 4/248362). 1.4.4.6.15 ~~ Ambrosina Alchin Ambrosina was born at Yass on 25th September 1869 (NSW 1869/20200). She married Richard Bell at Marrickville in 1890 (NSW 18904842). Richard and Ambrosina had at least four children John (1891), Elizabeth (1894), Amy (1896) and Charles (1898). Ambrosina died at Newtown in 1903 aged 34 years (NSW 1903/11074). 1.4.4.6.15.1 ~~ John Ambrose Bell John was born at Newtown in 1891. He died in 1893 aged about than 2 years. 1.4.4.6.15.2 ~~ Elizabeth Bell Elizabeth was born at Newtown in 1894 (NSW 1894/24659). Elizabeth died in 1942 aged about 48 years. 1.4.4.6.15.3 ~~ Amy Bell Amy was born at Newtown in 1896 (NSW 1896/24117). She married Harold Messer in 1919; he was born at Newtown in 1895. 1.4.4.6.15.4 ~~ Charles Richard Bell Charles was born at Newtown in 1898 (NSW 1898/33105). He died there the same year. 1.4.4.6.16 ~~ Unnamed Male Alchin This unnamed boy was born at Jerrawa Creek on 19th September 1872 (NSW 1872/19928) and he died there the same day (NSW 1872/7379). 1.4.4.6.17 ~~ Angelina Alchin Angelina was born at Jerrawa on 27th March 1874 (NSW 1874/21724). She married Albert James Butt at Gunning on 28th October 1895 (NSW 1895/7080); he was born at Yass on 29th January 1871 the son of Isaac Butt (1824-1895) and Margaret Pollard (1830-1914). Albert and Angelina had at least four children Roy (1896), Allan (1900), Vera (1902) and Elvie (1907). Angelina died at Crookwell on 23rd December 1929 (NSW 1929/23672) aged 55 years. Albert died at Crookwell on 8th June 1943 (NSW 1943/08979) aged 72 years. 1.4.4.6.17.1 ~~ Roy Butt Roy was born at Crookwell on 6th October 1896 (NSW 1896/30245). He married his first cousin Sarah Ann Atkins at Sydney on 15th July 1922 (NSW 1922/09091); she was born at Dalton on 18th October 1891 and she was the daughter of Thomas Atkins (1857-1917) and Priscilla Holgate (1859 and 1939). Roy and Sarah had at least two children Heather (1923 -1940) and Keith. Roy died at Dalton on 15th April 1959 aged 62 years. Sarah died at Dalton on 10th July 1967 aged 75 years. They are both buried at Dalton. 1.4.4.6.17.2 ~~ Allan Butt Allan was born at Crookwell in 1900 (NSW 1900/21508). He died there the same year (NSW 1900/08707). 1.4.4.6.17.3 ~~ Vina Butt Vina was born at Crookwell on 11th October 1902 (NSW 1902/31147). She married Hector Robert Carl Joseph Ward at Crookwell on 22nd February 1927 (NSW 1927/04391); he was born at Granville on 12th September 1901. Hector and Vina had at least four children Mercy, Ivy, Ruth and Robert. Hector died at Balmain on 14th July 1959 aged 57 years. Vina died on 22nd October 1966 aged 64 years. 1.4.4.6.17.4 ~~ Elvie Butt Elvie was born at Crookwell in 1907 (NSW 1907/34659). She married George Stanley Hudd at Walcha in 1930 (NSW 1930/16847); he was born at Tuena in 1905. George and Elvie had five children Gregory (who died in infancy), Glendon, Iris, Dorothy and Yvonne. George died at Goulburn on 27th January 1978 aged 73 years. Elvie died at Goulburn on 17th November 1987 aged 80 years. 1.4.4.7 ~~ Sara-Sophia Alchin Sara-Sophia was baptised at Staplehurst on 25th July 1802. She probably married Robert Thomas in the early 1820's; he was baptised at the Congregational Church, Staplehurst on 10th December 1797. Robert and Sara had at least eight children Humphrey (1821), Sara (1824), Elizabeth (1827), Robert (1831), Jemima (1833), Ellenor (1836), Thomas (1840) and Mary (1844). The 1841 census records that Robert was an agricultural labourer and he and his wife and their six children were living at Brook Cottage, Frittenden. The 1851 census records that Robert was an agricultural labourer and he and his wife and four of their children were living at Brook Cottage, Frittenden. The 1861 census records that Robert was an agricultural labourer. He and his wife and their youngest daughter were living at Brook Cottage, Frittenden. Sara died in late 1865 aged 63 years and she was buried at Frittenden on 23rd December 1865. The 1871 census records that Robert was a widowed agricultural labourer and he was still living at Brook Cottage, Frittenden (with possibly his married daughter). The 1881 census records that Robert was an agricultural labourer and he was living with his grandson (George Thomas Link) and his wife at Brook Cottage, Frittenden. Robert died in the summer of 1878 aged 81 years and he was buried at Frittenden on 2nd August 1878. 1.4.4.7.1 ~~ Humphrey Thomas Himphrey was born at Ulcombe, Kent in about 1821. He and his younger sister Sara were baptised at Frittenden on 12th September 1824. The 1841 census records that Humphrey was an agricultural labourer and he was living with his parents at Brook Cottage, Frittenden. Humphrey married Eliza in 1849 (Maidstone 1849 March qtr Volume 5 Page 365); she was born at Frittenden in about 1823. Humphrey and Eliza had at least eight children Mary (1844), Eliza (1845), Sarah (1846), Rachel (1848), Ellen (1850), Rhoda and Hannah (1851), and Emma (1856). The 1851 census records that Humphrey was an agricultural labourer and he and his wife and their four children were living at Chapel Cottage, Frittenden. The 1861 census records that Humphrey was an agricultural labourer and he and his wife and their four daughters were still living at Chapel Cottage, Frittenden. Humphrey was buried at Frittenden on 9th June 1869 (Cranbrook 1869 June qtr Volume 2a Page 353) aged about 48 years. 1.4.4.7.1.1 ~~ Mary Thomas Mary was born at Frittenden in 1844. The 1851 census records that the school girl was living with her family at Chapel Cottage, Frittenden. The 1861 census records that Mary was a house servant to James Boomer at Pound Farm, Benenden. 1.4.4.7.1.2 ~~ Eliza Thomas Eliza was born at Frittenden and she was baptised at Frittenden on 16th July 1845. Eliza died in November 1849 aged about 4 ½ years and she was buried at Frittenden on 18th November 1849. 1.4.4.7.1.3 ~~ Sarah Thomas Sarah was born at Frittenden in late 1846 or early 1847. She was baptised at Frittenden on 19th March 1847. The 1851 census records that the young girl was living with her family at Chapel Cottage, Frittenden. The 1861 census records that Sarah was still living with her family at Chapel Cottage, Frittenden. 1.4.4.7.1.4 ~~ Rachel Thomas Rachel was born at Frittenden in 1848 and she was baptised at Frittenden on 6th August 1848. The 1851 census records that the young girl was living with her family at Chapel Cottage, Frittenden. Rachel died in May 1854 aged almost 6 years (Cranbrook 1854 June qtr Volume 2a Page 269) and she was buried at Frittenden on 30th May 1854. 1.4.4.7.1.5 ~~ Ellen Thomas Ellen was born at Frittenden in 1850 and she was baptised at Frittenden on 24th March 1850. The 1851 census records that the young girl was living with her family at Chapel Cottage, Frittenden. 1.4.4.7.1.6 ~~ Rhoda Thomas Rhoda and her twin sister Hannah were born at Frittenden in 1851 and they were baptised at Frittenden on 21st December 1851. The 1861 census records that the school girl was living with her family at Chapel Cottage, Frittenden. Rhoda had a natural born child Humphrey (1870). The 1871 census records that Rhoda and her son and her sister were still living at Chapel Cottage, Frittenden. Rhoda subsequently married Robert Brenchley in 1873 (Cranbrook 1873 December qtr Volume 2a Page 1114); he was born at Little Chart in 1838. Robert and Rhoda had at least four children Thomas (1874), Ellen (1882), Alice (1884) and Robert (1890). The 1891 census records that Robert was a general labourer and he and his wife and their four children were living at The Street, Pluckley in Kent. Robert died before 1901. The 1901 census records that Rhoda was a widowed washerwoman and she and her two youngest children were living at Rookery, Pluckley. 1.4.4.7.1.6.1 ~~ Humphrey Thomas Humphrey was born at Frittenden in 1870. The 1871 census records that the young boy was living with his mother at Chapel Cottage, Frittenden. 1.4.4.7.1.6.2 ~~ Thomas Brenchley Thomas was born at Frittenden in 1874. The 1891 census records that Thomas was employed as a general labourer and he was living with his parents at The Street, Pluckley. 1.4.4.7.1.6.3 ~~ Ellen E. Brenchley Ellen was born at Pluckley in 1882. The 1891 census records that the school girl was living with her family at The Street, Pluckley. 1.4.4.7.1.6.4 ~~ Alice Amy Brenchley Alice was born at Pluckley in 1884. The 1891 census records that the school girl was living with her family at The Street, Pluckley. The 1901 census records that Alice was living with her widowed mother at Rookery, Pluckley. 1.4.4.7.1.6.5 ~~ Robert S. Brenchley Robert was born at Pluckley in 1890. The 1891 census records that the young boy was living with his family at The Street, Pluckley. The 1901 census records that Robert was living with his widowed mother at Rookery, Pluckley. 1.4.4.7.1.7 ~~ Hannah Thomas Hannah and her twin sister Rhoda were born at Frittenden in 1851 and they were baptised at Frittenden on 21st December 1851. The 1861 census records that the school girl was living with her family at Chapel Cottage, Frittenden. The 1871 census records that Hannah was living with her elder sister and nephew at Chapel Cottage, Frittenden. 1.4.4.7.1.8 ~~ Emma Thomas Emma was born at Frittenden in 1856. The 1861 census records that the school girl was living with her family at Chapel Cottage, Frittenden. 1.4.4.7.2 ~~ Sara Sophia Thomas Sara was born at Frittenden in 1824 and she and her elder brother Humphrey were baptised at Frittenden on 12th September 1824. Sarah was not living with her family at the time of the 1841 census and she had probably gone into domestic service. Sarah married John Link at Headcorn on 7th April 1844 (Hollingbourne 1844 June qtr Volume 5 Page 311). John was a labourer of Headcorn the son of George Link who was also a labourer. The ceremony was performed by Rev'd Charles Fielding and the witnesses were George and Elizabeth Link. John was born at Headcorn in 1817. John and Sarah had at least two children George (1845) and Mary (1848). The 1851 census records that John was an agricultural labourer and he and his wife and their two young children were living at Four Oaks Cottage, Headcorn. The 1861 census records that John was an agricultural labourer and he and his wife and their two children were living at Water Lane, Headcorn. The 1871 census records that John was an agricultural labourer and he and his wife were living alone at Water Lane, Headcorn. John died in 1884 aged 67 years (Hollingbourne 1884 March qtr Volume 2a Page 409) and he was buried at Headcorn on 19th April 1884. Sarah died in 1894 aged 69 years (Hollingbourne 1894 March qtr Volume 2a Page 527) and she was buried at Headcorn on 12th January 1894. 1.4.4.7.2.1 ~~ George Thomas Link George was born at Headcorn in 1845 (Hollingbourne 1845 September qtr Volume 5 Page 259). The 1851 census records that the young boy was living with his family at Four Oaks Cottage, Headcorn. The 1861 census records that George was an agricultural labourer and he was living with his parents at Water Lane, Headcorn. George married Mary Ann Harris in 1871 (Cranbrook 1871 March qtr Volume 2a Page 681); she was born at Biddenden in 1850. The 1871 census records that George was a wheelwright and he and his young wife were living with his widowed grandfather at Brook Cottage, Frittenden. George and Mary had at least two children Charles (1874) and Frank (1877). The 1881 census records that George was a traction engine proprietor and he and his wife and their two sons were living at Willow Cottage, Chapel Lane, Staplehurst. The 1891 census records that George was a traction engine proprietor and he and his wife and their two teenage sons were living at Bly Court, Staplehurst. The 1901 census records that George was an engine proprietor and he and his wife and their eldest son were living at 2 Willow Cottages, Staplehurst. 1.4.4.7.2.1.1 ~~ Charles James Link Charles was born at Staplehurst in 1874 (Maidstone 1874 March qtr Volume 2a Page 615). The 1881 census records that the school boy was living with his family at Willow Cottage, Chapel Lane, Staplehurst. The 1891 census records that Charles was an engine fitter and he was living with his parents at Bly Court, Staplehurst. The 1901 census records that Charles was a bachelor and he was living with his parents at 2 Willow Cottages, Staplehurst. He was working for himself as a chimney sweep. 1.4.4.7.2.1.2 ~~ Frank Link Frank was born at Staplehurst in 1877 (Maidstone 1877 June qtr Volume 2a Page 605). The 1881 census records that the young boy was living with his family at Willow Cottage, Chapel Lane, Staplehurst. The 1891 census records that Frank was a clock maker's apprentice and he was living with his parents at Bly Court, Staplehurst. The 1901 census records that Frank was working for himself as a watchmaker and he was boarding with Edward and Elizabeth Bateup at Horsmonden. 1.4.4.7.2.2 ~~ Mary Ann Link Mary was born at Headcorn in 1848. The 1851 census records that the young girl was living with her family at Four Oaks Cottage, Headcorn. The 1861 census records that the school girl was living with her family at Water Lane, Headcorn. Mary married George Harris at Headcorn on 16th April 1870 (Hollingbourne 1870 June qtr Volume 2a Page 865). He was a 25 year old miller of Headcorn the son of Edward Harris a labourer. The wedding ceremony was performed by Rev'd Henry Sewell and the witnesses were George Thomas Link and Mary Ann Harris. 1.4.4.7.3 ~~ Elizabeth Thomas Elizabeth was born at Frittenden on 13th November 1827. She and her younger brother Robert were baptised at Frittenden on 16th January 1831. The 1841 census records that the young girl was living with her family at Brook Cottage, Frittenden. Elizabeth married Alfred Greengro at Frittenden on 10th October 1847 (Cranbrook 1847 December qtr Volume 5 Page 155); he was born at Hawkhurst in 1821. Alfred and Elizabeth had at least eight children Mary (1848), Thomas (1850), Ellen (1853), Alfred (1855), Robert (1861), Ida (1864), Kate (1866) and Albert (1869). The 1851 census records that Alfred was an agricultural labourer and he and his wife and their two children were living at Flimwell, Ticehurst. Alfred's 23 year old brother William was also living with them. The 1861 and 1871 census both record that Alfred was an agricultural labourer and he and his wife and five of their children were living at Lake Cottage, Frittenden. The 1881 census records that Alfred was an agricultural labourer and he and his wife and three of their children were still living at Lake Cottage, Frittenden. Alfred died in 1886 aged 66 years (Cranbrook 1886 June qtr Volume 2a Page 407). The 1891 census records that Elizabeth was widowed and she and three lodgers were still living at Lake Cottage, Frittenden. The 1901 census records that Elizabeth and her 10 year old grand-daughter Addie Greengro were living at The Green, Frittenden. Elizabeth died later that year aged about 76 years (Cranbrook 1901 December qtr Volume 2a Page 514) and she was buried at Frittenden on 21st November 1901. 1.4.4.7.3.1 ~~ Mary Ann Greengro Mary was born at Frittenden in 1848 (Cranbrook 1848 March qtr Volume 5 Page 75) and she was baptised at Frittenden on 4th April 1848. The 1851 census records that the young girl was living with her family at Flimwell, Ticehurst. The 1861 census records that Mary was living with her family at Lake Cottage, Frittenden. Mary may have married either Edward Fever or Daniel Morris in 1875 (Maidstone 1875 June qtr Volume 2a Page 898). 1.4.4.7.3.2 ~~ Thomas Greengro Thomas was born at Ticehurst in mid 1850 (Ticehurst 1850 June qtr Volume 7 Page 535). The 1851 census records that the 10 month old infant was living with his family at Flimwell, Ticehurst. The 1861 census records that the school boy was living with his family at Lake Cottage, Frittenden. Thomas married Sarah Ann; she was born at Biddenden in 1848. Thomas and Sarah had at least ten children Thomas (1872), Mary (1873), Didymus (1875), Albert (1876), Ellen (1878), George (1879), Ann (1883), Lucy (1886), Ada (1888) and Arthur (1891). The 1881 census records that Thomas was an agricultural labourer and he and his wife and their six children were living at The Common, Benenden. The 1891 census records that Thomas was a farmer and he and his wife and their seven children were living at Turkhead, Godford Road, Cranbrook. The 1901 census records that Thomas was a farmer and he and his wife and their five children were living at Godford, Cranbrook. 1.4.4.7.3.2.1 ~~ Thomas William Greengro Thomas was born at Frittenden in 1872 (Cranbrook 1872 December qtr Volume 2a Page 635) and he was baptised at Frittenden on 3rd November 1872. The 1881 census records that the school boy was living with his family at The Common, Biddenden. The 1891 census records that Thomas was a farm labourer and he was living with his parents at Turkshead, Godley Road, Cranbrook. Thomas married either Florence Elizabeth Morphett or Rosa Packham in 1900 (Cranbrook 1900 December qtr Volume 2a Page 1649). 1.4.4.7.3.2.2 ~~ Mary Ann Greengro Mary was born at Biddenden in 1873 (Tenterden 1873 December qtr Volume 2a Page 655). The 1881 census records that the school girl was living with her family at The Common, Biddenden. Mary may have married John Bertram Taylor in 1900 (Cranbrook 1900 September qtr Volume 2a Page 1621). 1.4.4.7.3.2.3 ~~ Didymus Greengro Didymus was born at Biddenden in 1875 (Tenterden 1875 June qtr Volume 2a Page 655). The 1881 census records that the school boy was living with his familt at The Common, Biddenden. The 1891 census records that Didymus was a farm labourer and he was living with his parents at Turkshead, Godford Road, Cranbrook. Didymus married Elizabeth Louisa Santer in 1895 (Cranbrook 1895 September qtr Volume 2a Page 1363); she was born at Cranbrook in 1874. Didymus and Elizabeth had at least two children Herbert (1896) and Alice (1900). The 1901 census records that Didymus was a dairyman and greengrocer and his wife was a shopkeeper. The couple and their two young children were living at High Street, Cranbrook. 1.4.4.7.3.2.3.1 ~~ Herbert Didymus Greengro Herbert was born at Cranbrook in 1896 (Cranbrook 1896 December qtr Volume 2a Page 800). The 1901 census records that the young boy was living with his family at High Street, Cranbrook. 1.4.4.7.3.2.3.2 ~~ Alice Millicent Greengro Alice was born at Cranbrook in 1900 (Cranbrook 1900 March qtr Volume 2a Page 833).
