William died in 1814 aged about 30 years and he was buried at Staplehurst on 10th February 1814.

1.4.6.1  ~~  John Alchin

John was probably born at Staplehurst before 1814 but further research is required. We only know of him from his grandfather's will dated 1826:

"…. I give and bequeath unto my aforesaid Executors the sum of one hundred pounds of lawful money of England upon trust as before stated for John Alchin son of my son William Alchin to be paid him by my Executors when he attains the age of twenty one years if he should not attain the age of twenty one years the said one hundred pounds to be equally divided between my surviving children ….."

John may have married Hannah (Honor) Catt; she was born at Sutton Vallence in 1816. They probably had a daughter Mary. The 1881 census records that John was an agricultural labourer and he and his wife were living at 49 Church Street, Boughton Monchelsea (John may have been married previously as John Alchin, a labourer of Boughton, and his wife Sarah baptised two children - William and Mary - at Boughton Monchelsea in 1847).

John probably died in 1883 aged 68 years (Maidstone 1883 December qtr Volume 2a Page 385).

Charles subsequently married Tryphena Dartnall by licence at Hawkhurst on 13th November 1814; she was baptized at East Peckham on 30th April 1792 and she was the daughter of Henry Dartnall and Elizabeth Pattenden. Charles and Tryphena had at least six children – Richard (1815), Tryphena (1816), Betsy (1818), John (1821), Mary (1823) and James (1825). The parish registers for these baptisms record that Charles was a farmer of Linton.

Charles was the Executor and major beneficiary of his father's estate when it was proved in 1833. Charles inherited all of his father's properties at Linton and Boughton Monchelsea. The 1841 census records that Charles was of independent means (usually this meant a landowner) and he and his wife and their two daughters were living at Elm House, Lee Road, Lee near London. Tryphena died in 1850 aged 58 years (Hendon 1850 September qtr Volume 3 Page 149).

Henderson and the witnesses were John Evenden, W.H. and Elizabeth Barton and Mary Ann Waite.

William and Jane had at least four children – Mary (1826), Charles (1828), William (1831) and Jane (1834). The parish register records that William was a farmer of Linton. The 1841 census records that William was a farmer of Linton Court, Linton – perhaps this property had been settled on him by his father. His father's will which was written at about the same time leaves no legacy to William whatsoever.

The 1841 census also records that William and Jane had no children living with them at the time – their two sons were away at school  and perhaps the enumerator just neglected to include the girls. The 1851 census records that William farmed 350 acres employing 40 labourers. He and his wife and two of their children were living on their estate at Linton at the time. Jane's aunt Mary Mercy Allen was also living with them.

Jane may have died in 1858 aged 60 year (Maidstone 1858 September qtr Volume 2a Page 275). The 1861 census records that William was farming 800 acres at Court Lodge Farm, Linton. Living with him in the house were two servants. William probably died in 1866 aged 66 years (Maidstone 1866 December qtr Volume 2a Page 313).

Stone a chemist who was born at Aylesford in 1801.

Charles and Emma had at least one child – Jane (1854). The parish registers record that Charles was a farmer of Loose. The 1861 census records that Charles was a 'fund holder' and he and his wife and their daughter were living at Endless Road, Salisbury. The 1871 census records that Charles was 'living on interest of money' and he and his wife and their daughter were living at 24 Endless Street, Salisbury.

Emma probably died in 1880 aged 51 years (Richmond Sy 1880 December qtr Volume 2a Page 203). The 1881 census records that Charles was widowed and living on the dividends of his investments. He and his two servants were living at London Road, Britford in Wiltshire. The 1901 census record that Charles was "living on his own means" at Milford, Wiltshire. He may have died later that year.

1.4.8.1.2.1  ~~  Jane Emma Alchin

Jane (Emma) was born at Loose and she was baptised at St Nicholas' church, Linton on 13th August 1854.  Her birth was registered under the name of Emma Jane Martyn Alchin (Maidstone 1854 September qtr Volume 2a Page 358). The 1861 census records that Thomas was farming 253 acres and he and his wife and their daughter were living at Aldington House, Thurnham.
