The 1871 census records that Daniel was a higler and he and his wife and their nine children were living at Mill Cottage, Headcorn. The 1881 census records that Daniel was a farmer and he and his wife and eight of their children were living at Mill House, Headcorn. Four more of their children were living with their eldest son Thomas at Maidstone. Nancy married Henry Herbert Coles in 1881 (Maidstone 1881 December qtr Volume 2a Page 1148); he was born at Cottingham in Northamptonshire in 1860. It is likely that Henry had some connection to the family of Alchins who manufactured steam engines at Northampton. Nancy's younger sister Maria married William Alchin of Northamton in 1886. The 1901 census records that Henry was a steam engine maker and he and his wife were living alone at 5 Lloyd Road, East Ham in London. At that stage the couple had no surviving children. 1.4.10.2.5.3 ~~ Minnie Collison Minnie (her name is also almost indecipherable in the 1861 census) was born at Headcorn in 1860 and she and her brother Daniel were baptised at Headcorn on 28th July 1861. Daniel and Julia had at least four children Eva (1885), Arthur (1888), Charles (1890) and Bessie (1897). The 1891 census records that Daniel was a butcher and he and his wife and their three children were living at 44 Sandling Road, Maidstone. It seems likely that Daniel was running his eldest brother's old butcher's shop. The 1901 census records that Daniel was a pork butcher operating on his own account at home. He and his wife and their four children were living at 45 Sandling Road, Maidstone.
