Cassandra Allchin – Spinster of Limehouse – 1856 (PROB 11/2238)

In the name of God Amen I Cassandra Allchin of 14 Gill Street in the parish of Saint Anne Limehouse in the County of Middlesex Spinster being at this time of sound mind memory and understanding do make this my last Will and Testament Imprimis I commend my Soul into the hands of my ever blessed saviour and Redeemer in humble confidence that he will keep it until the day of his appearing and my body I resign unto the dust to rest in hope until the resurrection of the just I appoint Thomas Weller of No. 9 Smith Street Walworth in the County of Surrey and Thomas York of No. 116 Holborn Hill in the County of Middlesex to be the Executors of this my Will and I direct my said Executors to pay my funeral expenses and the expenses of proving this my Will out of the monies which shall be standing in my name in the government stocks or funds which I authorise them to sell out realise and receive for that purpose with any other monies belonging to me and I direct them to retain to their own use the sum of five pounds each for their trouble as Executors and the residue of my monied property (if any) I give and bequeath to my niece Sophia Dunning spinster hereinafter named I bequeath to William Allchin son of Henry and Ann Allchin one pair of silver table spoons to Thomas Allchin brother of the said William Allchin the eight day clock To my niece Sophia Dunning daughter of William and Susannah Dunning my bed and bedding my bedstead and mattress and hangings my Brussels carpet my Pembroke table and workbox the set of horsehair chairs six knives and forks six silver tea spoons the sugar tongs and the night chair To my niece Sophia Dunning wife of George Dunning the double chest of drawers the chimney (?) glass six knives and forks and salt spoons To Rachel Weller daughter of Thomas Weller the set of china To my niece Naomi Mosly wife of John Mosly the dressing drawers and looking glass the decanters the sofa and all the glass and three silver tea spoons and the best fender and fire irons the card table and the copper coal scuttle To Thomas Weller the round table To …….. Elsdon the best cruet and stand To George Elsdon the Pilgrims I Progress and Paradise Lost And I bequeath all the rest of my books unto the said Thomas Weller And I bequeath all the remaining household effects unto my niece Cassandra ……….. And I bequeath all my wearing apparel amongst my nieces Sophia Dunning spinster Sophia Dunning wife of George Dunning Rachel Weller Naomi Mosly Mary York wife of Thomas York and Cassandra ……….. and whereas by agreement made by letter in the year one thousand eight hundred and forty six between myself and Mary Allchin widow of Thomas Allchin of Wilmot Canada West it was agreed that in consideration of the said Mary Allchin paying me annually twenty pounds during my natural life I should bequeath by Will all my leasehold house situate at No. 14 Gill Street in the parish of Saint Anne Limehouse with all the yards gardens and appurtenances now occupied by me unto the said Mary Allchin or to her heirs executors administrators and assigns and whereas the said Mary Allchin hath since departed this life and the said yearly sum has since been paid to me by her children Now I do in performance of the said agreement bequeath and appoint all my estate and interest in the said leasehold house unto and between and amongst Thomas Allchin George Allchin John Allchin James Allchin Mary Allchin William Allchin Samuel Allchin Hannah Allchin and Sarah Allchin the children of the said Mary Allchin deceased for their joint benefit In witness whereof I the said Cassandra Allchin have to this my last Will and Testament subscribed my hand this thirty first day of august one thousand eight hundred and fifty five Cassandra Allchin Signed by the said Cassandra Allchin the Testatrix as and for her last Will and Testament in the presence of us both present together at the same time and ………. In her presence at her request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as witnesses Hannah Marie Williams 32 Adelphi Terrace Victoria Park Ann Ligmore No. 14 Gill Street Limehouse

Proved at London 19th September 1856 before the Worshipful Frederick Thomas Pratt Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the oaths of Thomas Weller and Thomas York the Executors to who Admon was granted having been first sworn duly to administer
